Many hearts are mourning the recent loss of local artist Glenda Bailey. A successful self-taught artist, Glenda loved her faith, family, and the arts. A prolific painter, Glenda specialized in mixed media working with a variety of techniques including, alcohol ink printing, paper embossing, and encaustic painting. In addition to creating original compositions she also taught art and was published in national art publications such as Somerset Studio Gallery, Art at the Speed of Life and Sew: The Art of Creative Sewing with Mixed Media.
With her recent passing, Glenda’s family donated a large amount of her art supplies to the City of Rogers. Kinya Christian, Arts and Culture Coordinator for the City of Rogers, contacted AAA Director of Arts Integration, Aaron Jones, about the donation which includes all forms of paints, brushes, canvas, paper, pastels, printing ink, and much more. The supplies will be used for K-12 visual arts and arts integration projects to benefit the district’s creative student population and teachers.
Thank you to the City of Rogers and the Bailey family for this generous donation. Our district is grateful for such a gift and we will honor Glenda's legacy as a visual artist and teacher and use the supplies for creative educational purposes!
