3rd grade has been studying about our government and each student was assigned a president to research. Yesterday, they dressed as their president and presented their project. Great job, 3rd grade!
For the past semester, AAA HS Creative Writing student Alyssa Coleman has worked with Mr. Hanna's 3rd grade class in developing a play based on Eric Carle's book, "The Very Hungry Caterpillar”. Today they brought this story to life on stage outside the K6!

Countdown to the EGG-naut drop in Mrs. Benton’s Science Classes! The 4th grade class returned from Space Camp and are engineering capsules that will protect an egg from a 20-foot drop! Capsule testing takes place on Friday at 2:00 pm in the gym. #NWAMakerDays

Smart Students in Ms. Le’s coding classes have created Smart Watches! Using a block-based programming language 5th and 6th grade students use conditionals to program buttons, set time, and embedded a simulation of their watch on their digital portfolios. #NWAMakerDays

Yesterday, three K6 students spoke to the Kiwanis Club of Rogers about how the club encouraged them to receive Terrific Kid Achievement Awards this year. The Kiwanis Club of Rogers sponsors the monthly awards presented during K6 Rise & Shine assemblies.

Arkansas Arts Academy dancers and K-6 dance educator, Mrs. Finley, are partnering with CACHE artists-in-residence to create new original works of art infused with dance that will culminate in a live performance and a music video.
Sarah Turner is the CACHE artist in residence who is leading the collaboration project and paired local rap artist, Cheesman, with choreographer Cynthia Finley and AAA elementary dancers. Cheesman created an original song specifically for this collaboration with AAA, and CeCe Finley has developed the choreography and the creative direction for Cheesman. Yesterday, they gathered at CACHE artist studios in Bentonville for their first rehearsal together. This collaboration performance will debut April 30th at "Fifth Market" in Bentonville (1000 SE 5th St). You won't want to miss this! 5th/6th Graders in Ms. Le's class designed their own digital smartwatch using a block-based programming language. They learned how to use conditionals to program buttons & set time, wrote their own set of instructions, and embedded a simulation of their watch on their digital portfolios. Mark your calendars for the upcoming Parent Engagement Night on Monday, April 4th from 5:30-6:30 in the HS Library.
Luke Jackson, licensed counselor and outreach specialist with Ozark Guidance, will speak on "Child Development: Changes Versus Red Flags." He will cover different stages of childhood development and parenting tips for building positive relationships. He will discuss, for example, the differences between nervousness versus anxiety, typical inattention versus ADHD, and resolved versus unresolved grief.
