Good afternoon!
I hope this finds everyone healthy and safe. I am sure that all of us are going a little stir crazy at this point as we finish this third week of social isolation. I am missing the routine of school and seeing student and teacher faces everyday.
I know that my staff has been working hard to deliver meaningful content that students can engage with to keep their brains in gear. We've tried to strike a balance between assigning enough to be meaningful without overloading students and families. I've created a survey that I would like for parents to fill out to provide us feedback on how they think emergency remote learning is going right now. Please take a few minutes to complete the survey: COVID Instruction Parent Feedback Survey. We will use the results to modify and adjust where needed and make sure we are meeting the needs of our families.
I am available in my office on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings from 7-11 am. After that time and on Tuesday and Thursday, I am working from my home while managing my own children's emergency learning plans. Please feel free to email me with any concerns or questions, with no students to monitor each day I have been able to answer emails fairly quickly.
Given our president's current guidelines to maintain social distancing and self-isolation through April 30th, I am indefinitely postponing prom 2020 and cancelling all other events through May 5th. If we return to school in May, my faculty and I will make decisions about future events then. Please note that the Governor has not extended the school closure beyond April 17th at this time. If any extension to the school closure is made, I will notify parents immediately.
Jostens has a wonderful program called "The Harbor" that consists of short videos for teens and tweens on social or emotional issues that teenagers face. They have released their latest video to the public as it is on the topic of COVID-19 and how it is impacting all of us. I hope you take time to watch the episode linked below as it has comforting words of wisdom for us all. The Harbor: Rooted in Love
I hope you are all finding ways to enjoy this beautiful spring! Stay safe and please let us know if there is anything we can do to support you.
Sincerely,
Heather Wright
