The Northwest Arkansas Children's Shelter provides safety, hope, and high-quality care to children who have been abandoned, abused, or neglected. These children are housed for up to 45 days at the shelter facility and are provided with clean clothing, meals, educational opportunities, and the chance to be "normal" kids.
The Shelter Shop is a thrift store that sells new- and gently-used items donated by the public, using the funds from sales to benefit children at the shelter. As an extension activity for a lesson on the plight of children during the Industrial Revolution, students in Ms. Scott's World History classes helped clean, process, and prepare donated items to put on the Shelter Shop floor.
Students at Arkansas Arts Academy are making a difference in the community.
