Students in Ms. Liz Scott's advisory class wrote positive messages on pencils and created tangible pieces of hope and encouragement for students in Mr. Jose Tobias's math class at Horizon High School in El Paso, Texas. Ms. Scott reached out to Mr. Tobias via school e-mail after reading a Time Magazine article about the recent loss of one of his students. Knowing that her students would be willing to show compassion to others, she asked Mr. Tobias for his permission to receive the pencils with students' heartfelt wishes of concern, and he graciously and enthusiastically accepted. Students' messages were genuine and poignantly beautiful and will hopefully provide comfort to the recipients.
